Preparing for 2027 Medicare Enrollment

Medicare is confusing and you don't have to navigate it alone.

Medicare Annual Enrollment Period: October 15 – December 7, 2026

Your Medicare coverage may be changing. Let's make sure you're prepared.

Every year, Medicare plans can change, and 2027 is no exception. Some plans are changing premiums, deductibles, prescription drug coverage, provider networks, and benefits. Others may no longer be available in your area.

These changes can affect your healthcare and your budget, sometimes in ways that aren't immediately obvious.

At Beacon Health Advocate, I believe you deserve to understand your Medicare options before making important decisions. My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, and comfortable with the coverage you choose.

You don't have to navigate it alone. I'm here to help.

Important 2027 Medicare Plan Changes

Is Your Current Medicare Plan Changing or Ending?

Not all Medicare plan changes are easy to recognize. Even if you're happy with your current coverage, it's important to review what's changing for 2027.

If Your Plan Is Being Discontinued

If your Medicare plan will no longer be offered in 2027, you should receive a notice from your insurance company explaining what happens next.

Depending on your situation, you may be automatically moved into another plan, known as your plan being "Cross-Walked", or you may need to select new coverage.

Pay particular attention to:

  • Notices about plan termination or nonrenewal
  • Information about being moved or "cross walked" into another plan
  • Deadlines for choosing new coverage
  • Changes that could affect your doctors, prescriptions, or out-of-pocket costs

If Your Plan Is Continuing but Changing

Even when your plan continues into 2027, your benefits and costs may not stay the same. Review your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) carefully for updates to:

  • Monthly premiums and deductibles
  • Copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket costs
  • Doctors, hospitals, and provider networks
  • Prescription drug coverage and pharmacy networks
  • Additional benefits and service areas

Remember: Just because your plan worked well in 2026 doesn't automatically mean it's still your best fit for 2027.

Prescription Drug Coverage: Don't Overlook the Details

Your prescriptions are an important part of your Medicare coverage, and even small changes can make a difference in what you pay.

For 2027, be sure to review:

  • Whether your medications are still covered
  • Changes to prescription drug tiers
  • Monthly premiums and annual deductibles
  • Copays and coinsurance
  • Whether your preferred pharmacy is still in-network or offers preferred pricing

A plan with a lower monthly premium isn't necessarily the most affordable option when you consider your medications and total annual costs.

Let's look at the whole picture, not just the monthly premium.
